Since February 2026, the escalation of the conflict in the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Middle East has had an impact on the health of people in the region and beyond.

People have been forced to flee their homes, the violence has killed and injured civilians and health workers, and damaged health facilities, all resulting in health services being disrupted. People with injuries or chronic illnesses – including those requiring dialysis, insulin, or other life-sustaining treatment – are finding it harder to get care. 

Disruptions to airspace and maritime routes impact the movement of humanitarian supplies and medical equipment, with knock-on effects far from the region.

WHO is working with ministries of health and partners to deliver a coordinated health response, provide supplies, increase disease surveillance and ensure continuity of health services.
